Kente cloths

Kente cloths are made to serve as clothes for festive occasions in  in West Africa, especially in Ghana. They are made from long woven strips with a width of approximately 10 cm that are then sewn together to the desired width. The weaving technique is sophisticated and requires extensive experience to master. Ewe and Asante are two ethnic groups that are particularly known for their kente dresses. Read more about kente and other Ghanaian applied arts in the  booklet that was published in connection with an exhibition in Galleri Grini Mølle in autumn 2021.
